About Onkopti®

The Onkopti database was collaboratively developed by the clinical Onkopti team and the Fraunhofer Institute IESE Kaiserslautern (Germany). It is constantly expanding and undergoing further development.

Onkopti is published by Onkodin GmbH, which was founded in 2016.

Onkopti is authored and published by the hematologist and oncologist Hartmut Link, Professor of Medicine, and his team of oncologists and pharmacists in Kaiserslautern, Germany.

Onkopti is a software solution for the digital management of cancer drug therapy. It supports the digitalization of oncology workflows and helps medical teams manage patient treatments in a structured and safe way.

The Onkopti database contains digitally available and clinically validated treatment protocols for malignant diseases. These protocols follow current medical guidelines and include not only the main cancer drugs, but also accompanying and supportive therapies.

This standardization helps ensure consistent treatment and a high level of medication safety. The protocols can be used in different digital formats: they can be exported to hospital, practice, and pharmacy systems, opened in spreadsheet applications, viewed online, or saved as PDF files.

For medical teams, this leads to faster and more efficient workflows, reduced manual work, time savings, and lower staff workload. The database is regularly updated to reflect new medical knowledge in oncology, so users always work with current and reliable information.

Principle: Medical oncology treatment regimens

Oncological treatment regimens are complex. In addition to the cancer-targeting drugs, they must include concomitant and supportive therapies, clear instructions for safe drug administration, and defined monitoring requirements.

Onkopti is designed to meet these requirements. It provides treatment protocols in a structured, easy-to-use format and offers additional background information, including direct links to the original scientific literature. Protocols are created based on original publications, clinical study groups, and selected congress data.

Onkopti® concept, method, and database

Each treatment protocol follows a standardized structure with clearly defined sections. These include the disease indication, treatment intent, tumor-specific drugs, concomitant and supportive medications, recommended dosages, treatment intervals, and therapy cycles.

Relevant clinical risks such as febrile neutropenia, anemia, and emetogenicity are specified in the protocols. The protocols also specify required monitoring tests, safety warnings, and recommendations for dose adjustments when needed. The literature reference for the protocol is linked to PubMed and the original publication via Digital Object Identifier (DOI).  Additional references are provided in the form of online drug databases, clinical guidelines and recommendations from scientific organisations.

All protocol data in Onkopti is collected, standardized, and maintained in a structured database. This modular design allows protocols to be built, updated, and adapted efficiently by changing individual components without affecting the entire protocol. All treatment regimens are developed, reviewed, and regularly updated according to predefined quality standards.

Quality assurance is ensured through systematic review processes involving medical and pharmaceutical experts, covering both the database content and the generated protocol outputs.
